Cincinnati lawyer Al Gerhardstein, who represented the Black United Front in the racial profiling suit against the City of Cincinnati, is speaking to students about his civil rights experiences today, Nov. 7, at 8:00 p.m. in Kelley Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. Gerhardstein is also discussing his representation of the victims of the Lucasville, Ohio, prison riot, racially profiled African Americans and women and homosexuals who have been abused by the police. The talk is part of the apartment staff programming offered by the office of residence life. Introducing Gerhardstein is his son, Adam, a sophomore who is a resident assistant at the Cleneay Apartments. "Every semester we do a ‘Life Beyond Xavier’ event," says Cindy Lowman-Stieby, apartments manager. "It encourages students to be more involved in the outside world." Indian food is being served after the lecture. For more information, contact Adam Gerhardstein at 513 731-3548.
