Women basketball players earn honors

A-10 coaches pick Xavier to finish fifth in the West

Four women basketball players earned honors from the Atlantic 10 Conference yesterday. Seniors Reetta Piipari and Amy Waugh were both named to the Preseason All-Conference Second Team in a polling of the league’s coaches. Musketeer freshmen Tara Boothe and Karolina Piotrkiewicz were both named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team. The A-10 coaches also picked Xavier to finish fifth in the A-10 West for the 2002-03 season. The women’s basketball team has played in five straight Atlantic 10 Tournament semifinals and has won two of the last three A-10 championships. The women’s team opens its exhibition season on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 1:00 p.m. against the Reebok Lady Stars at the Cintas Center. The regular season starts for the team on Nov. 22 at Pepperdine.
