The University's athletic department is finding itself in the news quite a bit of late.
CNN and Sports Illustrated featured Xavier in its Atlantic 10 preview, picking David West as player of the year for the third straight season and giving the team top billing for its frontcourt and backcourt.

Sister Rose Ann Fleming, the University's academic advisor for athletics and the person primarily responsible for the men's basketball team going 61 for 61 when it comes to players earning their degrees.
