10/24/02
The
FreeStore/FoodBank is honoring individuals and organizations for their contributions to the local hunger relief efforts tomorrow, Oct. 25, at 8:45 a.m. in the Cintas Center. Edward Cooney, executive director of the
Congressional Hunger Center in Washington, D.C., is the keynote speaker at the summit.
This first-ever agency conference provides leadership support to local emergency food providers and pantries. It addresses concerns including the barriers faced by citizens trying to get food as well as the ability for pantries and soup kitchens to provide food to the community.
The FreeStore/FreeBank provides food, products and services to help people overcome barriers to their basic survival needs, and to further their self-reliance. The organization serves 20 counties in southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana. The conference is being sponsored by Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger and Xavier Universitys Community Building Collaborative.
