Xavier's School of Nursing hosts regional conference about national health care initiatives
Conference on Feb. 24 benefits health care administrators, nurses, physicians and providers
Health care providers from Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Michigan are attending a national conference at Xavier to explore affordable health care initiatives for diverse populations. The all-day conference takes place on Friday, Feb. 24, at the Schiff Family Conference Center at the Cintas Center.
The focus of the conference, “Tomorrow’s Health Care System Today,” is the new accountable care organizations model of payment focused on providing more coordinated quality and safe medical care at lower costs. About 500 people are expected to attend including health care administrators, managers, suppliers, providers, nurses, clinical nurse leaders, physicians and educators.
Areas of discussion include national perspectives on health care reform, providers, insurance payers and Medicare, suppliers of technology and equipment manufacturers as well as the latest rules out of Washington. Conference speakers include national leaders from the Pioneer Accountable Care Organizations Model at the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation, Ascension Health System and the private health insurance industry.
The conference is available by video-conference technology to selected hospitals, nursing homes and medical clinics throughout Ohio and in Lexington, Ky. The conference includes registration at 7:30 a.m. and continental breakfast, presentations and speakers before and after lunch, a panel discussion that concludes at 4:30 p.m. followed by a wine and cheese reception.
Panel members include moderator Mark Meyers, PhD, dean of the College of Social Sciences, Health, and Education at Xavier, Mike Barber, medical director of the National Church Residence, and Cynthia Pearsall, chief nursing officer, Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio.
