Xavier"s MBA Program Introduces SAS Certification
Two Xavier students earn certifications
Through Xavier’s MBA Business Intelligence concentration, two students have passed the SAS (Statistical Analysis Software) exam. Vaibhav Deshpande and Bill Donahue have achieved SAS certifications after completing an Information Systems course taught by Dr. Gregory Smith. Dr. Smith set up this opportunity for students this past spring.
When asked why he chose to get the SAS certification, Deshpande replied, “I did the SAS certification in part to get hands on experience on the latest AI/Data Mining tools and to make a career switch to BI/Data Mining.”
Xavier’s MBA Information Systems courses help prepare students for the SAS certification. Donahue said, “By the time we had finished the class, most of the prep work for the certification exam was already done.”
With SAS certifications, Vaibhav and Bill are more marketable, increasing career opportunities. SAS certifications are the only globally-recognized credential endorsed by SAS and are used for business analytics and business intelligence worldwide. Students will have the chance to complete the exam again in January 2011.
