Xavier organizations hosting "Rethink Afghanistan" teach-in that examines overseas initiatives

Xavier’s Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center, Office of Peace and Justice, Peace Studies Program, Middle Eastern Cultural Society and Pi Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho sorority are hosting "Rethink Afghanistan: A way forward," a teach-in on Afghanistan that offers a look at the United States’ initiatives overseas.
The event, which is Monday, Nov. 9, from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. in the Clocktower Lounge of the Gallagher Student Center, takes a look at how can the United States can move forward in a way that protects lives and serves the interest of the Afghans as well as the Americans.
The program also features:
· Middle Eastern food.
· Discussion with an Afghan speaker, recently returned from Afghanistan as a private U.S. contractor.
· Clips from the movie “Rethink Afghanistan.”
· Dialogue about current development initiatives of the U.S.
· Interactive sessions on how Cincinnati can help end the war while continuing development abroad.
