The Remarkable Families Symposium 2011 takes place Friday, April 8, at Xavier's Cintas Center
Xavier and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center are sponsoring the Remarkable Families Symposium 2011 today, Friday, April 8, for parents raising children with special needs. The forum takes place at the Cintas Center on Xavier’s campus from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
The focus of the symposium is on the rewarding side of raising children with special needs. Tri-state parents can find information, resources and networking opportunities in an effort to build family resiliency and learn to not only survive—but to thrive.
The keynote address is being given by Dr. Michael Sorter, director of psychiatry at Children’s Hospital. A resource fair features nearly 40 service agencies, community agencies, companies and professionals specializing in medical support, recreation, community programs and services, home health, financial planning and more.
Multiple workshops target topics such as finances, special education, support and networking, advocacy and parenting. Presenters include Xavier’s theology and education departments, Children’s Hospital’s special needs resource directory, The Arc of Ohio, Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services, and Cincinnati Catholic Charities among many others.
