Xavier's Institute for Politics and Public Life, along with WLWT, is hosting a gambling debate on Monday, Oct. 26, at 7:00 p.m. in the Cintas Center. Ohio State Rep. Louis Blessing Jr. from TruthPAC and former Cincinnati mayor Charlie Luken of the Ohio Jobs and Growth Committee are discussing the merits of Issue 3 in a taped newscast that will air before the November election. They are being joined by an economist from the University of Cincinnati and a member of the Ohio Council of Churches. This event is free and open to the public.
Issue 3 is deciding whether or not the state is going to allow casinos in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo. WLWT is streaming the event live on its web site, www.wlwt.com, so that those who can’t attend may e-mail or text questions for the panelists. WLWT anchors Sheree Paolello and Jack Atherton are moderating the event. News correspondent John London is taking audience questions.
The Institute for Politics and Public Life aims to provide leadership in national discussions of politics and public policy in an academic setting.
