Xavier University confers tenure
Xavier University’s Board of Trustees conferred tenure upon the following faculty members on February 26. Each has met the criteria of teaching excellence and scholarship, and has been meaningfully engaged in the University and community service.
Dr. Lifang Wu
A member of Xavier’s management and entrepreneurship department, Wu earned his Ph.D. in Operations Management from the University of Iowa in 2004. He has published in Total Quality Management and Business Excellence, International Journal of Electronic Business, and International Journal of Management. He teaches Operational Analysis, Global Supply Chain Management, and Quality and Product in Operations.
Dr. Thomas Knestrict
A member of Xavier’s childhood education and literacy department, Knestrict received his Ed.D. in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati in 2002. He is an authority in special education, and teaches various courses in early childhood development, full day child care, integrated curriculum and classroom management. He has published in The Journal of Children and Poverty and Journal of Family.
Dr. R. Brian Balyeat
A member of Xavier’s finance department, Balyeat earned his PhD in finance at Duke University in 1998. Balyeat specializes in finance and has published numerous articles in The Journal of International Finance and Economics, International Journal of Global Business and Economics, and The Finance Review. He teaches Business Finance, Investments, and Options and Futures.
Dr. Debora L. Kuchey
A member of the childhood education and literacy department at Xavier, she received her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction Emphasis at the University of Cincinnati in 2002. She teaches Methods of Observation and Assessment in Early Childhood, Middle School Mathematics, Pedagogy and Assessment, and Science and Mathematics Methods for Early Childhood. She has published in Midwestern Educational Researcher, Journal of Family Studies, and Catholic Education: A Journal of Inquiry and Practice.
Dr. Christian M. End
A member of Xavier’s psychology department, he earned his Ph.D. in social psychology from Miami University in 2002. End, a social psychologist, teaches Experimental Psychology, Social Psychology, and Advanced Research Methods. He has published in Economic Inquiry, Sociological Spectrum, and The North American Journal of Psychology.
Dr. Brent C. Blair
A member of Xavier’s biology department, Blair earned his Ph.D. in Terrestrial Ecosystems in 2002 from the University of Michigan. Blair specializes in plant ecology and teaches Tropical Biodiversity, Tropical Ecology, and Environmental Studies. He has published in journals such as The Journal of Tropical Ecology, Plant Ecology, and The Ohio Journal of Science.
Dr. Daniel J. Dwyer
A member of Xavier’s philosophy department, Dwyer earned his Ph.D. in philosophy at the Catholic University of America in 2001. He teaches Theory of Knowledge, Phenomenology of Perception, and Post-Modern Philosophy. Dwyer has also authored numerous articles in Idealic Studies, Continental Philosophy Review,and Husserl Studies.
Dr. Vishal Kashyap
A member of Xavier’s marketing department, Kashyap earned his Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Massachusetts in 2004. He has published in The Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, and The Journal of Marketing Channels. He teaches Principles of Marketing, Managing Channels of Distribution, E-Commerce, and International Marketing courses.
Dr. Richard John Mullins
A member of Xavier’s chemistry department, Mullins received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Indiana University in 2004. He teaches Organic Chemistry I and II, Organic Synthesis and Analysis, and Medicinal Chemistry. He has made numerous professional presentations and has published in Name Reactions for Homologations, Name Reactions to Functional Group Transformations, and Name Reactions in Heterocyclic Chemistry.
