Xavier Drops 2 at IU
Xavier Now 2-1-1
The Muskies suffered a tough weekend losing two games to Indiana University. X jumped out to a quick 2 – 0 lead on Friday night but lost focus and intensity and ended up losing 3-2. Coach Driscoll called it one of the most disappointing losses in the past two years “We faced some adversity in that game and simply didn’t respond. We need to understand when things aren’t going our way that we need to stick to our game plan and not let our intensity suffer.” The Muskies had little time to regroup for Saturday as it was a day game. However, they showed they are quick learners. Once again there was adversity to be dealt with as they battled back from a 3-1 deficit and again when they were down 5-3. The game remained tied at the end of overtime and was ultimately decided in a shootout that required an extra round. Driscoll had this to say about Saturday “much like the team last year, when pressed the guys stepped up. Obviously nobody is happy with the final result from Saturday but there is not a guy that should hang his head. We learned a lot about ourselves this weekend. I think we can build off Saturday and we had better given the level of competition we face this coming weekend against Holy Cross.” Driscoll went on to say “ with four games under our belt now, we are more convinced than ever that our depth is our strength. Young guys are pushing upper classroom and the competition will make everyone better. As coach Sperrick says, everyone should feel the urgency to perform because there is a guy right behind you that wants your job.”
