Three Chosen to Lead Xavier Student Government

Xavier University held elections for its Student Government Association (SGA) executives on February 15th - 16th. Voters could choose from two slates of candidates for president, administrative vice president and legislative vice president. The winning slate received the most votes in Xavier election history.

(49085) President-elect Seth Walsh, 20, is a junior from Saint Joseph, MI majoring in Political Science. He is the son of Jean and Timothy Walsh and graduated from St. Joseph High School. He is a resident assistant and has been in the Student Government Association for three years. He served as a Student Activities Council member on the Weekend Committee his freshman year and was elected Senator his sophomore and junior years serving as the Association Affairs Committee chair and Senate coordinator. He has worked on projects like the Day of Solidarity.

(63128) Legislative Vice-President-elect Kristin Sanfilippo, 21, is a junior from Saint Louis, MO majoring in Political Science and International Studies. She is the daughter of Frank and Lisa Sanfilippo and graduated from Nerinx Hall. She has served on Senate for one year as the Association Affairs Committee Chair. She has worked on project such as the BikeXU rental program. She is a recipient of the John Gilligan American Dream Scholarship and Peace Studies Scholarship.

(66221) Administrative Vice-President-elect Matthew Morefield 20, is a sophomore from Overland Park, KS majoring in Social Work with a minor in Gender and Diversity Studies. He is the son of Thomas and Kathy Morefield and graduated from Blue Valley West. He is a University Scholar and has been a Student Activities Council member for two years. In this time, he has held a position on the Enrichment and Dining Services committees and served as the Concert Committee Chair. Last year he received the freshman SACer of the year award and has been working to improve dining services on campus.

The new team will be sworn into office on April 2, 2012. They have plans to improve campus life, campus safety, academic services, sustainability, and student transparency.
