Students from Eight States Campaign to Lead Student Government

Every year Xavier University holds elections for its Student Government Association executives. Candidates campaign with two others for the positions of president, administrative vice president, and legislative vice president. This year all three tickets offer voters impressive platforms and backgrounds.

Breanna Lynch, 20, is a candidate for legislative vice president. A junior from Garden City, NY, she is the daughter of Michael and Janet Lynch and graduated from Garden City High School. At Xavier, she is majoring in occupational therapy. She has been involved in Alternative Breaks, Unified for UNIFAT, and intramural sports while at Xavier. Colleen Reynolds, 19, is a candidate for legislative vice president. A sophomore from Louisville, she is the daughter of Brian and Cathy Reynolds and graduated from Assumption High School. At Xavier, she is in the Philosophy, Politics, and the Public honors program, majoring in Theology with a minor in Peace Studies. She has been involved with a variety of organizations such as Student Activities Council, the Dorothy Day Center for Faith and Justice, the Office of Student Involvement, and the Annual Fund Phonathon. Katie Keller, 18, is a candidate for administrative vice president. A junior from Hebron, KY, she is the daughter of Mary and Douglas Keller and graduated from Covington Latin School. At Xavier, she is majoring in psychology with a minor in business. She has been a member of the Student Government Association for three years and currently chairs the Life and Culture Committee. She is also the social and volunteer coordinator for Psi Chi/Psychology Club. Also on her ticket are Breanna Lynch of Long Island, NY and Joe Jabour of Wooster, Ohio.

Joe Jabour, 20, is a candidate for president. A junior from WoosterOH, he is the son of Dr. Vincent and Josefina Jabour and graduated from Wooster High School, At Xavier, he is majoring in natural sciences (pre-med). He has spent one term on Student Government Association Senate, serving on the Club Relations committee, volunteers with Student Community Organizers at Evanston Academy, and participates in intramural sports. Keenan Collins, 21, is a candidate for administrative vice president. A junior from Indianapolis, he is the son of Catheran Lang and Willie (Jay) Collins and graduated from Cathedral High School. At Xavier he is majoring in psychology with a minor in business. He has played on the Club Football Team, has served in the Student Government Association, Student Activities Council, and the XU Dance Marathon Board among other activities. Markus Lasky, 20, is a candidate for legislative vice president. A junior from Whitefish Bay, WI, he is the son of Noni and Tom Lasky and graduated from Marquette University High School. At Xavier, he is majoring in English with three minors. He is on the Alternative Breaks Board of Directors, serves as a leadership intern in the office of Student Involvement, is a Xavier basketball committee member and is a student caller for the Annual Fund. Drew Dziedzic, 20, is a candidate for president. A sophomore from St Charles, MO, he is the son of Daniel & Charla Dziedzic and graduated from St. Louis University High School. At Xavier, he is majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and the Public. He has served on Student Government for the last two years, while also interning on Mitt Romney's presidential campaign and Ann Wagner's congressional campaign. He completes weekly community service and is a member of various Xavier clubs. Matt Morefield, 21, is a candidate for president. A junior from Overland Park, KS, he is the son of Tom and Kathy Morefield and graduated from Blue Valley West High School. At Xavier, he is majoring in Social Work. This year he has served as administrative vice president of Student Government Association. Kelsey McCarty, 21, is a candidate for administrative vice president. A junior from Colorado Springs, she is the daughter of Ky and Judy McCarty and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. At Xavier, she is majoring in Middle Childhood Education with a minor in Spanish. She has been on Student Activities Council, a resident assistant, a Manresa orientation leader, a Connexions service group leader, a board member of Students Taking Active Roles, a member of the 10PM Mass community, and a participant on many faith retreats and Alternative Breaks trips to El Salvador and Chicago.
