Spanish Professor Publishes Article
Studies Film and Melodrama in Mexico

Dr. Natalia Jacovkis, an assistant professor in the department of modern languages, has published an article in in the Spring 2010 volume of Confluencia. Revista Hispánica de Cultura y Literatura. Titled "An Epic of Losers: Arturo Ripstein's Profundo Carmesi and the Deconstruction of Mexico's Post Revolutionary Discourses, the article studies the role of melodrama in popular culture, focusing on the 1997 film by this Mexican director.
