Senior Accounting Major Awarded Scholarship

Tax Executives Institute award to undergraduate for first time | November 14, 2008

The Tax Executives Institute (TEI) has awarded a $1,500 scholarship to Dawn Wright of Ripley, Ohio. Dawn is a senior accounting major at Xavier University pursuing a professional career in the area of taxation. She is a Williams Scholar and a member of the Xavier University 2008 award-winning tax team.

TEI has a history of providing scholarships to deserving graduate students, but this is the first time that an award has been granted to an undergraduate tax student.

"This type of award brings further recognition of the quality of our students and our accounting program,” says Priscilla O’Clock, Xavier professor of Accountancy. “Many thanks to TEI for extending the program to include undergraduates and especially for being supportive of Xavier University students.”

TEI is the preeminent professional organization of in-house Tax Professionals. Members are business executives responsible for taxation matters on an administrative or policy-making level, or whose work is otherwise primarily concerned with the problems of business taxation. For more information, visit www.tei.org.
