Outtakes Coming in February to Xavier
Newest Retail Location in Hailstones Hall
Xavier Dining Services adds a new addition to the Xavier Community, Outtakes Quick Cuisine, located in the Nieporte Lounge in Hailstones Hall. The grand opening is set for Monday, February 9, 2009. Designed specifically for the person on the go, this location will house healthy options and fresh items such as sandwiches and wraps, parfaits, salads all packaged in eco-friendly packaging. The packaging is made from plant based products that are biodegradable and/or compostable. Outtakes will also provide specialty & convenient items for patrons in the academic quad.
“As part of our initiative to expand campus food services, under the new agreement with Chartwells, our student assessment showed a need to add a small grab-n-go option on the academic side of campus and the College of Business and Hailstones Hall area seemed to be the most logical location. Chartwells answer to this campus need is called Outtakes… Equally important was to build this new service into our student managed programs on campus.” ~Tom Barlow, Director of Auxiliary Services.
Outtakes will be a student run enterprise from the managers to the workers, Xavier Dining Services will provide guidance and support to this student managed operation. This location and student run initiative not only has the support of administration but the support of some College of Business students as well. Christopher Schroeder, a Finance Major has full confidence & excitement regarding the student managed location.
“As a student, it has been a great honor to team with the Department of Auxiliary Services, Chartwells, and the rest of the Dining Service Committee in order to apply ideas towards the new dining operations at Xavier…I am confident that the implementation of a new grab-n-go eatery in the heart of our academic mall will not only provide exciting and fresh alternatives and convenience for Xavier students, but it will also give a valuable boost to the presence of student managed operations at Xavier.”
