New York Times columnist holds a discussion on "The Media and the 2008 Presidential Election"

Gail Collins is a Cincinnati native who was the first woman named editor of the Times' editorial page

The Department of Communication Arts is hosting a question-and-answer session on “The Media and the 2008 Presidential Election” with New York Times columnist Gail Collins on Monday, Sept. 29, at 4:30 p.m. in Kelley Auditorium in Alter Hall on the Xavier campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Collins, a Cincinnati native and a media veteran, is the first woman ever appointed editor of the New York Times' editorial page in its more than 150-year history.

Before joining the Times, Collins was a columnist at New York Newsday and the New York Daily News, and was a reporter for United Press International  and the Associated Press. She is the author of several books including, "America’s Woman: Four Hundred Years of Dolls, Drudges, Helpmates and Heroines."
