Cincinnati, OH– From July 26-31 and August 2-7, 2011, volunteers are invited to travel to Guatemala with local nonprofit Cooperative for Education (CoEd) and 25 other volunteers from across North America to bring educational opportunities to disadvantaged youth. Those who sign up for a 2011 Summer Snapshot before May 31st will receive $100 off the regular cost.
The group will deliver much needed textbooks, computers, and classroom resources to impoverished, rural schools. In addition, participants will experience Guatemalan life and culture through personal interaction with students and families and will also have the opportunity to see some of the country’s most beautiful and unique locations.
Xavier University director for photography Greg Rust has traveled twice with CoEd and highly recommends the experience. “It makes us appreciate all that we have as Americans and provides a wonderful opportunity to immerse ourselves in another culture. We can share ourselves with others and learn from them as well.”
The Snapshot Tours are July 26-31, 2011 and August 2-7, 2011. The cost is $975 for double occupancy / $1075 for single occupancy (plus airfare). Please contact Jennifer Sands, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 513-731-2595 or visit CoEd’s website at http://www.coeduc.org/tours.htm for more information.
Since 1996, CoEd has established 191 textbook programs, 48 computer centers, 20 primary school literacy programs, and 492 one-year scholarships. Over 30,000 Guatemalan students currently benefit from CoEd’s work. The Snapshot Tour is an ideal opportunity to make a meaningful contribution for the schoolchildren in Guatemala.
