Edible Books at Xavier University

March 30, 2012

Xavier University’s library and Conaton Learning Commons are celebrating “National Library Week” April 8 – 14. The entire week will have balloons and banners plus daily drawings for students to win prizes. A FaculTEA appreciation reception will be April 10 in the library, but the most fun thing for everyone is The Annual Edible Books Festival. On Thursday, April 12 from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm the 3rd floor terrace of the Conaton Learning Commons will be spread with delicious treats representing the bakers’ favorite books. All works must be edible and have something to do with books: look like a book, include text to read, or illustrate a theme taken from a book or book title.

Afterwards, participants can eat their words as they nibble the entries.

The International Edible Book Festival is held annually sometime in the beginning of April. In addition to the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Russia have participated in the festival.
