Twenty percent of children are sexually assaulted by age 18. Ninety percent of those assaults involve offenders who were trusted by the child/family. Ninety percent of assaults are never disclosed but the social costs include (but are not limited to) addictions, eating disorders, promiscuity, depression, suicide, and divorce. The financial costs, direct and immediate, in Hamilton County alone are over $9.2 M annually. The responsibility for preventing child sexual assault is with adults, not children.
