DR. CHRASTIL WINS STANFORD FELLOWSHIP

August 26, 2013

Dr. Chrastil has received a fellowship from the Stanford University Libraries to research in the Gustave Gimon Collection on French Political Economy.  Chrastil, who is Associate Professor of History, seeks to historicize the recent trend that nearly 1 in 5 women in many Western countries do not have children.  During her stay in Palo Alto, she will study the history of household choices regarding work, reproduction and consumption over the past two hundred years.  Chrastil, author of the forthcoming The Siege of Strasbourg, will also deliver a paper entitled "French Socialist Visions of Reproduction and Community."
