The Cincinnati premiere will be at the Freedom Center this Saturday October 10th at 10 am and start the Freedom Center’s 5th Anniversary Celebration.  For more information and a trailer please visit: CincinnatiInsideIslam.eventbrite.com. Michael Wolfe, co-founder and co-executive producer of UPF will introduce the film. A panel discussion after the film will include Wolfe, Dr. James Buchanan, executive director of Xavier University’s Brueggeman Center for Dialogue, and Dr. Inayat Malik, president of the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati.  Tickets, which include admission to the Freedom Center, are $9 per person and $18 for a family of four. For more information, contact the Brueggeman Center for Dialogue at 513-745-3922 or the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center at (513) 333-7606.

The 55-minute documentary is executive produced by Michael Wolfe and Alex Kronemer and produced and directed by Robert Gardner. It challenges some popular ideas about conflicts existing between the U.S. and the Muslim world and is intended to spur public policy debate based on facts, not fear. This research is crucial to new foreign policy being formulated in Washington and around the world. Experts featured in the film include Dalia Mogahed, executive director of the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies and a member of President Obama’s Council on Faith-Based Initiatives. Designed to create discussion and dialogue, the film has future screenings planned on Capitol Hill, at think tanks, and at universities before its national television debut this winter.

“The Gallup poll upon which this important documentary is based not only helps us to dispel the sometimes dangerous misunderstandings of the Muslim world as a whole but presents us with an important opportunity for reflection upon our own nation and culture,” says Xavier’s Buchanan . The thing that we must not lose sight of is that the relationship between the Muslim World and the West is going to play a critical role in the shape of our future and the future of our children. We need to turn that relationship into a positive one based on cooperation and understanding. This documentary helps us take steps in that direction.”
