Xavier's Student Government Association sponsors the 19th annual Fenwick Open on Sept. 27 | September 16, 2008

More than 200 members of the Xavier community are expected to attend the 19th annual Fenwick Open Charity Golf Outing sponsored by the Student Government Association. Registration is still open for the event, which takes place Saturday, Sept.  27.

All proceeds benefit the Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless and the newly-established SGA Study Abroad Award.

The scramble begins at 1:00 p.m. Subway is providing lunch and Outback Steakhouse is bringing dinner. There will be chances to buy raffle tickets with prizes ranging from gift certificates for the Xavier bookstore to golf memorabilia.

All students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to attend the event, as are other non-Xavier players. Alumni, faculty and staff pay $275 per foursome, or $75 for a single, while students receive a discounted rate of $120 per foursome, or $30 for a single.

Student Government Association vice president and Fenwick chair Josh Badall is optimistic about this year's success.

“The Student Government Association hopes to give a significant donation to this year's charity, Cincinnati's Coalition for the Homeless," he said. "We also want to encourage more education about serving the homeless in Greater Cincinnati.”

The golf outing is the largest student-run charity event at Xavier and is named in honor of Cincinnati’s first Archbishop and founding father of the University, Edward Dominic Fenwick, S.J. For more information on how to sign up, contact the SGA office at 513-745-4250.
