Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Scott A. Chadwick, PhD, announces that Brian D. Till, a professor of marketing and marketing department chair at the John Cook School of Business at St. Louis University, has been named dean of the Xavier University Williams College of Business. Till begins his new role at Xavier on July 1, 2012.
A native of Saint Louis, Till has studied and worked throughout the United States. He will bring to Xavier extensive experience and demonstrated strategic thinking in both academic and corporate settings. He has 25 years of progressive management experience, extensive publications, and proven teaching excellence.
Till has been with the John Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University since 1995, starting as assistant professor and progressing to associate professor in 2001. Since 2003, he has been chair of the marketing department. In 2007 he became Steber Professor of Marketing. He has earned numerous awards for teaching excellence during his tenure at SLU.

While at SLU, Till revitalized the department advisory board, revised undergraduate electives structure, developed a cross-disciplinary program in sports business, implemented a research symposium series, developed a partnership between his department and Nielsen, strengthened the PhD program, and led a task force exploring the School of Business’ entry into executive education.

In 2010-2011, Till was a visiting professor at Loyola University Chicago, where he developed across-disciplinary honors program for business students. Prior to his lengthy career at SLU, he was an assistant professor at Drexel University in Philadelphia, and has taught at University of South Carolina and University of Texas at Austin. Before his university career, he worked in brand management with the Purina Co. in St. Louis. He also has extensive teaching experience in South America.
He earned a PhD in Business Administration with a major in marketing and minor in psychology at the University of South Carolina. Till earned both his MBA and BS with honors in advertising from the University of Texas at Austin. He is co-author of the book The Truth About Creating Brands People Love and has published one book and more than 20 journal articles in top academic journals. His areas of scholarly expertise are in brand equity, creativity in advertising and associative learning.
The Williams College of Business includes ten undergraduate majors and six minors, as well as six MBA programs in Evanston, Deerfield, Northern Kentucky and West Chester.
Till replaces Ali Malekzadeh, who left Xavier to become Edgerley Family Dean of Business Administration at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan.
