As tax day approaches, Xavier students preparing returns for low income and elderly

The students are available in the evenings at the Cintas Center on campus through April 12 | March 11, 2010

Xavier University accounting students are helping to prepare tax returns for low income, elderly and student taxpayers on Monday evenings from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. from March 8 through April 12. The students are offering free basic federal and state income tax assistance to the Xavier, Norwood, Evanston and Avondale communities through the IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).

Getting help is easy. Call 513-745-2828 to schedule an appointment. Bring a photo ID, your W2 and 1099 forms, not just your last pay stub, Social Security Cards for every family member including children, any other tax-related documents and a copy of last year’s tax return if it's available.

The students will be set up in the Schiff Conference Center in Xavier’s Cintas Center. Parking is available at the Cintas Center. Assistance is available from 5:30-8:00 p.m. on March 15, March 29, April 5 and April 12. Assistance is not available March 22 because of conflicts with the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament taking place at Cintas Center.
