Requirements: All those auditioning must choose two scenes from the script for the character they wish to audition for. (Maggie or Josh can email the script to you)
Seeking professional actors who want to give their resumes a boost. Although this is a nonunion, non paying job it will be in every other way a professional experience for the actors involved. Each will receive a copy and credit as well as food, hair/ make-up, and wardrobe. This short film will be entered into various film festivals.
Characters:
Joshua AGE: 24-30
The character of Joshua is a troubled one. He has the looks and sharp wit of any James Dean role. His mind is always on the heart of the subject. He plays life ‘all in’ because for him this is the only way out of a lifestyle that was taking him nowhere.
Bradley AGE: 30-35
Bradley is guy with a lot of talk and a fistful of dollars to back it up. He runs a local outfit and is making a great profit. He is hotheaded and doesn't take ‘nothing from nobody’. He spends his spare time living it up with a love for money, women and booze. No matter how sloppy he might act he never loses his head. He has an expensive taste and an eye for diamonds.
Lady in Red AGE: 21-27
Classy and seductive, this woman is in a league of her own. She loves small talk; it keeps people's minds off what she's really going for. Wanting attention, she wears red as much as possible. She plays herself off as if she is just another girl looking for love when in reality she has other motives. She knows how to cut her way to the top. She is a brunette.
Derek AGE: 24-30
This man has loyalty written all over him. Although he's a dealer he's the straightest guy around. He has an eye for the fast life and lives it. Never one to look away, Derek keeps his ground. The look Imagined for him is a Marlon Brando type.
In Shadows
Log line: Joshua, a reformed young man, now lives an honest life that is going nowhere quick. Desperate for something different from the status quo, he accepts a cocaine pick up job from an old friend. Suddenly Joshua finds himself caught up in a whirlwind of corruption and mystery that is all tied up with the Lady in Red. Joshua must find a way out before it's too late.
Themes explored:
• What is there to living an honest life when everything you want is riddled with lies?
• What happens to an honest man when he's hit the end of the line?
• Can an honest man make it out clean after living in a world of lies?

In Shadows will be filmed in Noir style; black and white with only the color red featured. Although it takes place in present day, it will have a classic feel. It is meant to be somewhat satirical of the film Noir genre in so far as the dialogue is concerned, but in every other way is of a serious nature. This film is really all about the visuals. Kenny Florence from The Annuals is scoring the movie. Please read through the attached script and character descriptions for a full perspective.
