Ms Wallace will be premièring Hard Weather Boating Party Feb 09 at the Actor’s Theatre of Louisville’s Humana Festival of New Plays.
While in the area, she has agreed to visit Xavier and talk about her work. Naomi Wallace is the recipient of a MacAurther Genius Grant and has been called one of the most important playwrights in the U.S. and Britain.
Xavier will prepare some reader’s theatre style presentations from her plays and engage in conversation with her about their meaning, metaphor and context. The Xavier students will be from a variety of backgrounds from Theatre to Peace and Justice. Ms. Wallace’s strong political underpinnings in her work stress coalition building and peace making efforts. Her visit will engage students not only in her work but in their organizing efforts for social justice.
