Rovshan Mamedkuliev was born on 12th May, 1986 in Baku, Azerbaijan, laureate of All-Russia and international competitions. He started his studies in classical guitar at the age of 11. Graduated from school of art and Music College named after M. A. Balakirev in Nizhny Novgorod (Russia) as a higher achiever. In 2004, he entered the Nizhniy Novgorod Conservatoire (academy) named after M.I. Glinka and in 2009, with honors, completed his education at the classical guitar for an associate professor, laureate All-Russia competition of Aleksey Petropavlovsky. He also is currently in graduate school. As evaluated by a teacher, R.Mamedkuliev possesses such important for musician qualities, as an "excellent ear, tenacious memory, developed sense of rhythm and form, bright artistry", which contributed to his rapid professional growth. Since September 2009, a graduate student at Nizhniy Novgorod Conservatoire, he teaches in the Department of folk instruments, as well as in the Arzamas Music College.
Participating from 1999 in the creative contests of All-Russia and international level, Rovshan Mamedkuliev has won more than twenty Awards, including: First Prize on the 6th International competition of the performers on the national instruments «Cup of the North» (Cherepovets, Russia, 2006), Finalist and Special prize for the best interpretation of the compositions of Francisco Tarrega on the 41th International competition of performers on a classic guitar "Francisco Tarrega" (Benicasim, Spain, 2007), First Prize and Special Prize for the best interpretation of the compositions of Leo Brouwer on the 10th International Guitar Competition L. Brouwer (Paris, France, 2009), First Prize, Prize of Public and Special Prize for the best interpretation of the compositions of Heitor Villa-Lobos on the 1st International Guitar Competition "Heitor Villa-Lobos" (Spain, 2011), First Prize in the II International competition of named after A.Frauchi (Moscow, Russia, 2011). In 2012, Rovshan Mamedkuliev won one of the most prestigious classical guitar competitions - XXX Guitar Foundation of America's International Concert Artist Competition (GFA) (Charleston, USA).
For high achievements in the art of Rovshan Mamedkuliev received an award from the President of Russia (2006), grants the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod.
Rovshan Mamedkuliev participated in the creative meetings and master classes with leading musicians of Russia and foreign countries, such as: Leo Brouwer (Cuba), Fabio Zanon (Brazil), Roland Dyens(France), Thomas Muller-Pering (Germany), Marco Tamayo (Cuba), David Pavlovich (Hungary), AlexanderVinitsky (Russia) and others.
In the repertoire of the talented musician is works from Bach to contemporary composers, writing their own transcriptions of works written for other musical instruments. The row of works was written by modern composers specially for Rovshan Mamedkuliev, including Concerto #3 «Antony» for a guitar with the Symphonic Orchestra of Philippe Lemaigre, «Famalicao» for a guitar with the chamber orchestra of Elena Lebedeva, etc.
Intimate nature of the instrument, the guitar in the hands of Rovshan Mamedkuliev was able to convey the full range of human experience, a philosophical depth of monumental works.
Rovshan Mamedkuliev a lot and successfully performed at prestigious venues other countries of far and near abroad , various cities of Russia: in the State central concert-hall "Russia", Moscow International House of music, in Novosibirsk, Vologda, Ulyanovsk, Arkhangelsk, etc
As a soloist co-operates with different collectives, including l'Ensemble orchestral de Valensia (Valencia, Spain), Collegium instrumentale (Valencia, Spain), Orchestre du Conservatoire National de Musique Superiur de Paris (Paris, France), Azerbaydzhanian state chamber orchestra named after K. Karaev, Symphonic Orchestra of the Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic, Kostroma Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of the Tambov Philharmonic, Nizhny Novgorod State Orchestra of Russian folk instruments, Vyatka Russian folk Orchestra of F. I. Shalyapin (Kirov), Youth Orchestra of Russian folk instruments (Cherepovets), Chamber Orchestra "Soloists of Nizhny Novgorod", etc. In 2012, gave a solo concert in New York's Carnegie Hall, undertook a tour through the cities of Germany and Spain. A number of works are recorded by Rovshan Mamedkuliev on CDs.
In addition to solo performances, R.Mamedkuliev from 2004, plays in a duo with his teacher A. A. Petropavlovsky. Their Chamber Ensemble leads an active concert activity, not only in Russia, but also in neighboring countries. The repertoire of collective is diverse and consists of works of different epochs and styles: it is both age-old music and the classics and works of modern composers. Focusing primarily on original compositions, musicians at the same time extend a repertoire own settings and bring young composers over to the collaboration. Duo Petropavlovskiy - Mamedkuliev is carried out record on the compact disk of the concert program "Avenida" with works by Louis-Claude Daquin, Domenico Scarlatti, Enrique Granados, Astor Piazzolla and Máximo Diego Pujol.
