Recognizing the significant contribution of the arts and music in particular to society, Xavier University considers music an integral part of one's liberal arts education. Music is both an art and a science encompassing the theoretical concepts of sound, historical perspective, aesthetics and the performance of music. It develops in the student an understanding and appreciation of the creative process.
