Artists-in-Residence

Double or Nothing Ensemble

Double or Nothing Ensemble have been artists-in-residence at Xavier University since 2012.  Their mission is to foster live music and education through community outreach utilizing a double-reed ensemble to present a variety of genres, including newly composed music.

The four members of the ensemble, Julie Grasso, Connie Ignatiou, Lauren Piccirillo and Melissa Walding are all professional double reed players and teachers in the greater Cincinnati area. Double or Nothing performs repertoire from the Baroque period to contemporary music, offering creative and inspired programming for audiences of all ages. Their concerts often include works by composers such as Bach, Handel and Debussy, as well as the players’ original compositions and arrangements of popular hits by well-known contemporary artists.

The group collaborates with the Xavier University Symphonic Winds in rehearsals and performances throughout the year. In addition to their work with the Symphonic Winds, Double or Nothing work as coaches for student chamber ensembles, perform outreach concerts at local high schools, and perform their own concert series on Xavier's campus.
