Audition Preparation

Students should prepare two music selections of contrasting styles and time periods. Students may want to consult with their private instructor or music director.

  • Voice Students: One selection should be in a language other than English. Students should be prepared to sight-read.
  • Instrumental Students: Students should be prepared to play two-octave major and minor scales.
  • Percussion Students: Click here for guidelines

Recorded Auditions

Applicants who are unable to attend audition dates due to travel distance have the option to send in recordings of audition materials. We recommend uploading recordings to YouTube or Dropbox, and email the share links to kristiansenm@xavier.edu. Recorded auditions should be submitted no later than March 1 in order to be considered for the first-round of awards.
