Diversity at Xavier

Xavier is inspired by its Jesuit, Catholic tradition to encourage all faiths and cultures to flourish on campus. The result is higher graduation and retention rates for students of color compared to other colleges, and a growing multicultural enrollment of 16 percent. These students bring with them different world views and cultural experiences that enrich student life, academically and socially.

Katriece Carter

Black Student Association

As a high school student, Katriece was a little concerned about coming to what was traditionally a predominantly white university. Would she be able to find successful role models who looked like her?

Lan Nguyen

South Asian Society

Lan grew up in middle America, but her childhood was filled with stories about her parents’ harrowing experiences in their native Vietnam.

Graciela Diaz

Student Organization of Latinos

Graciela grew up in an Hispanic community on the lower West side of Chicago. They were financially poor but culturally rich in the Pilsen neighborhood, where the people come together to help each other through hard times.
