The School of Nursing offers a number of options for advanced nursing preparation. For registered nurses, in addition to the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN and RN to MSN), post-master's options are available for qualified RNs with a previous master's degree. Post-master's certificate options are clinical nurse leader and family nurse practitioner. Recently added is a post-master's Doctor of Nursing Practice in Population Health Leadership program.
For individuals wishing to make a career change to nursing who have a bachelor's degree in another field, the School offers the Master of Science in Nursing Direct Entry As Second Degree (MIDAS Program).
Applications are accepted for fall entry for the MSN and post-master's FNP track, MSN MIDAS , and the DNP program. Applications are accepted for fall, spring and summer entry for the other MSN tracks and for the post-master's CNL.
The MSN, post-master's and DNP programs for registered nurses are designed for the working professional with courses scheduled part-time in the late afternoons and evenings. The large majority of courses in the MIDAS program are scheduled during the day and each of the five semesters requires 15-18 credit hours in a set sequence. Students are in class or at the clinical site most often five days per week.
