School Nurse Licensure
The School of Nursing at Xavier University offers school nurse licensure to registered nurses with a baccalaureate degree in nursing or in a related field who seek only licensure and do not wish to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing. This program will prepare the student to become licensed as a school nurse in the State of Ohio.

Objectives
At the end of the program of study, the school nurse will:
- Utilize a distinct clinical knowledge base for decision-making in nursing practice.
- Use a systematic approach to problem solving in nursing practice.
- Contribute to the education of the client with special health needs by assessing the client, planning and providing appropriate nursing care, and evaluating the identified outcomes.
- Use effective written, verbal and nonverbal communications skills.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive school health plan.
- Collaborate with other school professionals, parents and care givers to meet the health, developmental and educational needs of clients.
- Collaborate with members of the community in the delivery of health and social services, and utilizes knowledge of community health systems and resources to function as a school-community liaison.
- Assist students, family and the school community to achieve optimal levels of wellness through appropriately designed and delivered health education.
- Contribute to nursing and school health through innovations in practice and participation in research or research-related activities.
- Identify, delineate and clarify the nursing role, promote quality of care, pursue continued professional enhancement and demonstrate professional conduct.
