graduate program: Nursing

Master of Science in Nursing for Registered Nurses

This is the entry point to the MSN for registered nurses with a BSN and for registered nurses with a bachelor's degree in another field who enter under the educational mobility option. Registered nurses without a bachelor's degree who have successfully completed bridge courses continue their education at this point.

Graduates of the MSN program are prepared to assume professsional leadership roles that encompass educational, consultative and managerial functions and to design and establish delivery services in response to health care policy changes. Due to the program's endorsement by the American Holistic Nurses Certification Corporation (AHNCC), graduates are eligible to sit for the holistic nurse certification examination.

The MSN curriculum requires a minimum of 36 semester credit hours, 10 of which are in elective courses. Students can either customize their plan of study to meet their personal goals by selecting a minimum of ten semester hours from the available areas of concentrated study or choose to select all electives from one area of concentrated study. Students work closely with their advisor for course selection. Courses are scehduled in the late afternoons and evenings one day per week to meet the needs of the working RN. Students have the option of either part-time or full-time study.

Rolling admission is offered for each fall, spring and summer semester.
