Join us during the Year of Faith to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pope John XXIII’s landmark encyclical, Pacem in Terris (Peace on Earth)! Key themes of the encyclical are centered on human nature and dignity and include human rights, public authorities, international relations, and the world community.

Mr. John Carr recently retired after over 20 years as the Executive Director of the Justice, Peace and Human Development Department of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. He served in fall 2012 in a residential fellowship on religion and politics at Harvard University, and he recently joined America magazine as its Washington correspondent . Mr. Carr will share the challenging vision of Peace on Earth, promoted from Pope John XXIII to Pope Benedict XVI, and encourage our ongoing efforts to promote peace and justice for all.

Program for High Schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati
April 18, 2013, Cintas Center, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Delegations of students and faculty from all high schools in the Archdiocese will gather to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pacem in Terris. Father Graham will welcome the students and John Carr will be the keynote speaker for the event. Students will meet in break-out sessions led by civic leaders, university professors and XU college students involved in justice and peace activities. The students will be invited to discern how to carry the message of Pacem in Terris forward to their schools and the larger world.
