Students interested in Nursing can also compete for an Army ROTC nursing scholarship and upon graduation become an Army Nurse.
If you are already attending Xavier or one of our partnership colleges or universities, Army ROTC Scholarship opportunities are available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student’s merit and grades, not financial need. There are three types of Army ROTC scholarships: Four, Three and Two year scholarships. Contact the Department of Military Science for more information on Campus Based Scholarships.
In 2007, the Xavier University ROTC program was awarded the General MacArthur Award for training excellence; recognized as the best ROTC Program East of the Mississippi River.
Army ROTC is a program of leadership. Since 1936, Xavier ROTC has prepared Xavier University, College of Mount Saint Joseph, Thomas More College, Northern Kentucky University and Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) graduates for officer responsibilities in the active Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard. Once a student has completed all requirements, they are commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army (13 levels above the rank of a private).
As an Army ROTC student, you will take one course and a leadership lab each semester. The courses satisfy the "free elective" credit requirements in Xavier academic programs. No obligation introductory courses provide valuable leadership experience and a chance to "take a look" at officer opportunities. ROTC scholarship winners can enroll in Xavier's academic majors, including Pre-medicine, Pre-law, and Nursing.
Even if you don't win a scholarship in high school, you still have the opportunity to compete for a 3 or 2 year scholarship once you are on campus.
