Health Services Administration Students Place 3rd at NAHSE Case Competition
Annual Everett V. Fox Student Case Analysis and Presentation Competition presented by the National Association of Health Services Executives
10/24/07Xavier University places 3rd at NAHSE Case Competition
This year Xavier University’s Graduate Program in Health Services Administration sponsored a team which placed 3rd in the annual Everett V. Fox Student Case Analysis and Presentation Competition. Prachi Asher, Jenelle Holloman and Calvin Wright competed among 20 other schools from across the nation.
The Case Competition
NAHSE expanded its scholarship program in 1996 to include The Annual Everett V. Fox Student Case Analysis and Presentation Competition, known as the “Case Competition”. The Case Competition is a scholarship program that utilizes the case study methodology of teaching to provide graduate students with an educational experience that enhances their problem analysis and presentation skills.
Three weeks prior to the competition each team was given a case study to analyze and form their recommendations. During the competition, each team had twenty minutes to present their analysis and recommendations before a panel of judges representing leaders in the health care field, corporate sponsors and academia professionals. The case competition was a challenge in applying creativity, knowledge and experience to analyze diverse, real-world issues facing a health care organization.
Xavier University has sent delegates three times before, and steadily improved each time they attended. This is the first time they have ranked and even beat out close competitor The Ohio State University! Xavier also faced tough competition from other nationally ranked schools such as University of Michigan, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University and many more. This competition was a great opportunity for the Xavier students to network with healthcare leaders and represent the university. Congratulations!
