Second-year XUMHSA student Ryan Toerner awarded Gerowitz Scholarship

Ryan Toerner has been awarded the Gerowitz scholarship for 2006. Ryan completed his undergraduate studies with a degree in psychology from Miami University. He decided to attend Xavier University’s graduate program in health services administration after working for The Midland Co. in Cincinnati. Ryan came to Xavier because of our “…excellent reputation within the health care industry. The deal-closer was the administrative residency and focus in long-term care”. Ryan will continue his studies on his residencies at St. Mary of the Woods in Avon, OH and the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago Service Corp. in Chicago, IL.

This scholarship is named for Dr. Martin B. Gerowitz who taught within the program for 21 years until his death in 2000. The Gerowitz Scholarship is awarded each year to one or two students who demonstrate analytical and intuitive abilities, as well as team leadership in their capstone course. The Gerowitz Scholarship is supported by the Gerowitz family, GPHSA alumni, and faculty.
