Chair’s Update May 2011

Dear Alumni, Students, Colleagues and Friends, 

This is my last letter as chair/director to you. It is with mixed emotion that I retire from the University. The Department is doing very well. (Please check the program update material in this newsletter for details.) Because the department is doing well, it is time for the next chair to lead it to new heights. Because the department is doing well, one might be tempted to stay and savor the situation. 

However, there is much that I would like to try in my “next life.” Now is the time for me to venture into new areas. 

Thank you all for your kind support. I cannot name any names; the list would be too long for any newsletter. However, I can name the faculty, the staff, the Advisory Board, the Dean of our College, and the numerous alumni who have generously given their time and shared their talent with our students. Last, I thank the students because without them there is no need for all of us.
