Alumni Update

Chad Wiggins
President, HSA Alumni Association

Continuing a long-standing tradition, our alumni and friends gathered for our annual alumni dinner at this year’s conference of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) in March. The dinner is a great opportunity for all to reconnect and re-energize with one another.

Prior to the dinner, the alumni board met and determined a new path for the alumni association. Moving forward, the primary focus of the association will be to contribute scholarships or stipends for students and residents within the program. In light of the economy and the financial struggles of hospitals, we believe that attracting good, qualified students through scholarship opportunities and then being able to supplement the students who choose non-paying residencies is vital for differentiating Xavier’s MHSA program.

Also at the alumni board meeting, Ida Schick, professor and chair/director of MHSA, provided a brief update on the program, which is thriving and also under going some reorganization and changes in the department. These additions are a welcome change and needed to keep up with the growing demands of the field.

We’re #1!

The Xavier Graduate Program in Health Services Administration is proud to receive for the second time in three years the top ranking by Modern Healthcare. “It is an honor to be listed in the rankings from Modern Healthcare,” said Mark Meyers, dean of the College of Social Sciences, Health, and Education. “This validates the tremendous efforts by the faculty, staff, students and alumni as they continue to live the mission of Xavier University, having a positive impact on the industry.”
