Alumni Update
Dave Dornheggen
President, HSA Alumni Association
The end of my two-year term as president of the Alumni Association has come quickly. I guess that's the case with any labor of love. The program helped me in the early stages of my career, and continues to help today. We have a continual rotation of young, enthusiastic and very bright students. It has been a privilege to get to know and work with several of them on various projects. I encourage each of you to become a mentor, provide an internship, utilize the students for a project, or most significantly take on a resident. The opportunity for you to teach and learn is very rewarding.
We have expanded our outreach to all alumni through the expansion of the web site, which is now fully integrated into the alumni site. Through the support of Mark Meyer, Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Education, we were able to improve the web site’s accessibility while reducing our costs. The web site is still in development, but is focused on keeping you up to date on the program, providing an opportunity to dialogue on current issues, and making you aware of career opportunities.
I want to thank the board members whose term expired with mine: David Irigoyen '83, Eric Vaughn '91, David Strong '91, Jeffery Johnston '95, Tim Raymond '83, Mick Hubner '91 and Mike Graham '03. I truly appreciated their time and commitment to the program and their assistance in bringing the alumni and the program closer together.
I handed the gavel over to Chad Wiggins at the ACHE meeting in Chicago on March 24. We also welcomed several new board members, Brad Allen '95, Chris Diguisto '04, Mark Ellis '92, Rob Wolterman '98, Tony Houston '00, Pam Coyle-Toerner '86 and Flo Buendia '92. I'm sure they will serve you well.
Xavier Network
Each time an alumnus utilizes the services of executive search firm CES Partners, executive coaching firm Morgan Executive Development Institute, Comey & Shepherd Realtors or Patton Healthcare Consulting, the company makes a donation to Xavier's HSA program and its alumni association. This helps provide scholarships for students and continues to build relationships between students and alumni.
