Questioning Coulter
As a Catholic Christian, I am wondering what you were thinking when you invited Ann Coulter to speak on your campus. Any good message she might have is lost in her hate-filled delivery. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

Questions of Faith
Regarding the Faith on Campus article (Spring 2007), it’s great that Xavier reaches out to other faiths and denominations—especially the Jewish faith, as they are like our “older brother.” Yet, while these men and women educate and reach out to the Xavier students and faculty, and in their own way evangelize their faiths, what is done by Xavier to evangelize the Catholic faith? Does the University hide the Catholic faith under a bushel basket, or does it hold it out as a beacon of truth—the Church instituted by Jesus Christ and his apostles and disciples? Based on the fact that I witnessed at the funeral Mass of retired professor John Hart, a woman pouring the water and wine into the chalice—a clear violation of the GIRM, the (intentional?) omission by the celebrant of the references to the Virgin Mary in the Profession of Faith/Creed, Xavier’s tacit support of the homosexual movement as evidenced by the campus events several weeks ago, etc., I suspect that if there is any Catholic evangelization going on at Xavier, it is not a brand of the Catholic faith that is faithful to the teachings of the Magisterium. And we wonder why the youth are so disenchanted with religion when a Catholic institution can not boldly and truthfully live its faith, what else would be expected? As an alumnus, I refuse to support Xavier any more for these very reasons. My support goes to proudly Catholic institutions such as Franciscan University and Ave Maria University.

Passion and Success
I believe that even though Stanley Burrell faded at the end of the year, he is still one of the most enthusiastic and inspiring players you guys had this year. He is a great success story fueled by his passion to succeed in anything he does and the passion of which he lives with every day. I only hope that I can live with the passion and determination he shows everyday.
