This
is your Xavier ID card. You need this to be able to check
books out of the library and to get access to the databases
from home. Your barcode number is at the bottom of the

Control |
Authority
control is applied to articles for submission to a database
or scholarly journal so that the information is verified
as valid and worthwhile. There is no authority control
on the world wide web. |
| Bibliographic
Database |
A
bibliographic database is a collection of records which
gives you information to find books, articles and other
materials. |
| Bibliography |
A
bibliography is a list of resources the author has used
in the article or book. |
| Boolean
Operators |
Boolean
operators are AND, NOT, OR. They are used to combine search
terms to increase or decrease the number of results. |
| Broaden
a search |
When
you broaden your search, you increase the number of results.
Use OR to broaden your search. |
| Broader
Term |
In
a thesaurus, the broader term is the more general term.
For example, furniture is a broader term than table. |
| Broken
Links |
These
are links on a web page which lead nowhere. You get error
messages such as "web page not found". |
