10C. What are the filesharing risks and Costs to Xavier University?

• Unauthorized filesharing and downloading pirated materials through Xavier networks or using Xavier equipment is against Xavier policies, and is often a violation of state and federal law.
• Unauthorized filesharing can also undermine Xavier's network security and expose computers to threats such as viruses, malware, password and identity theft, spyware, and other threats that can incapacitate computers and networks.
• The downloading of large media files can place an undue burden on Xavier's networks.
