Theses and Dissertations

The thesis/dissertation should be collected and initial paperwork should be done by individual departments. This is a more streamlined approach since students already have to deal with the departments to get their thesis/dissertation approved and signed.

After the thesis/dissertation has met all criteria within the department (e.g., approved and signed by the chair) it can be dropped off in the library office (Room 208, second floor, McDonald Library). Hours for accepting theses/dissertations are Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. It is recommended that patrons call Christine Maddy at 513 745-4813 first to make sure someone is in the office to accept the thesis/dissertation. If it is not possible to drop off your thesis/dissertation during office hours, special arrangements can be made by calling the office at 513 745-4813.

Students are required to complete and submit two forms with their thesis/dissertation:

The library does not make photocopies of a thesis/dissertation for the student. For example, if a student wants 5 copies bound they must submit 5 unbound copies to the library.

The library binds a thesis/dissertation as it is received. We do not check pagination or grammar.

Payment for binding all copies of a thesis/dissertation must be at the same time the thesis/dissertation is submitted for binding.

Payments may be made by cash or a check payable to Xavier University Library. The library does not bill bursar accounts.

The cost to bind a thesis/dissertation is as follows:

  •     Library copy no charge
  •     Each additional copy is $20

Students who want to have their thesis/dissertation shipped to them upon return from the bindery must sign the shipment waiver on the bottom of the binding form before the thesis/dissertation is shipped.

The cost to have a thesis/dissertation shipped is as follows:

  •     First copy shipped is $5
  •     Each additional copy shipped is $3

Turnaround time for binding a thesis/dissertation is 3-4 weeks. Each department will be notified by phone that their shipment has returned from the bindery.
