xu.tutor is an online tutorial developed by the library with the help of an Ameritech Partnership Award. You can access xu.tutor in the middle section of the library's homepage under Finding Help. These five library tutorials will help you to do research more effectively and efficiently.
To satisfy this step you need to complete the following tasks:
Read through this introduction (instructions). Be sure to try each of the sample links: glossary, example, video, and demo.
Read these off-campus access instructions. Have your ALL Card handy. You will need information on your ALL Card to get into the demo research databases.
There is a quiz at the end of each tutorial. Follow these instructions for the quiz:
Enter your name in the Name textbox.
Enter your Xavier email address in the Email textbox.
Accept the default No Instructor in the Class selectbox.
Complete the quiz.
Click the Score button at the end of the quiz.Your quiz will redisplay showing your score as well as your correct and incorrect answers. You need to achieve 80% or better on each of your quizzes. If your score is under 80% review the pages of the tutorial that address the questions you answered incorrectly and take the quiz again.
Once you have a quiz that is 80% or better do one of the following:
Print two copies: one for your professor as proof of completing this step and one for your records. You may get asked to take these tutorials again for another class and these quizzes provide the proof you need to get out of taking the tutorials again.
Highlight the entire quiz, including your name and score at the top of the page. Then copy and paste it into a new entry for your e-portfolio (Expo Directory) in Blackboard. If you do not remember how to do this review these e-portfolio instructions.
Now you are ready to take the tutorials. You need to complete only the first three tutorials and their quizzes to satisfy this step. You can go to each of the three tutorials by clicking the links below:
