TurnItIn is a plagiarism prevention and detection service. Faculty may ask an entire class or individual students to submit their papers to TurnItIn. The professor may submit the paper for the student or ask the student to submit their own paper. Once a paper is submitted to TurnItIn a report is generated that shows what parts of the paper are similar to other papers that have been written. Students need to set up a user profile before they can submit their papers to TurnItIn. If your professor wants you to submit your own paper to TurnItIn they have to provide you with a class ID and password so you can set up a user profile.
To satisfy this step you need to complete the following tasks:
There is a quiz at the end of this tutorial. Follow these instructions for the quiz:
Enter your name in the Name textbox.
Enter your Xavier email address in the Email textbox.
Accept the default No Instructor in the Class selectbox.
Complete the quiz.
Click the Score button at the end of the quiz.Your quiz will redisplay showing your score as well as your correct and incorrect answers. You need to achieve 80% or better on each of your quizzes. If your score is under 80% review the pages of the tutorial that address the questions you answered incorrectly and take the quiz again.
Once you have your two quizzes that are 80% or better print two copies of each quiz: one for your professor as proof of completing this step and one for your records. You may get asked to take these tutorials again for another class and these quizzes provide the proof you need to get out of taking the tutorials again.
