Library Privileges: Visiting AJCU Faculty (Passport)

Access to Library Resources and Services are available for visiting AJCU faculty participating in the Passport program and may require your AJCU Passport Borrowers Card. If you do not have this card ask the staff at the circulation desk in the library about obtaining one. Bring the AJCU Borrowers Form completed at your home institution and your home institution's photo ID card with you. Please review the library's Notice of Responsible Use.

ID card requiredCirculation Services are available for materials in the XPLORE and OhioLINK library catalogs. These materials may be requested online (help requesting). Borrowing privileges.See borrowing privileges for information about loan periods, renewals, loan limits, overdue fines and replacement charges. XPLORE materials are picked up and returned to the circulation desk in Xavier's library; OhioLINK materials may be picked up and returned to Xavier or to another OhioLINK library more convenient for you (pickup anywhere help). If materials are overdue, it is more cost efficient to return them to Xavier's library. For materials not available through Xavier or OhioLINK see document delivery services.

ID card requiredDocument Delivery Services may be used to request materials not available in the library's collections, including electronic collections, or through OhioLINK. These services are available at no charge and are accessible through the library's online forms. Notices for the arrival of document delivery materials are sent to the email address you supplied in the online document delivery form or to your postal address. For many journal articles the email notice will provide a password and link to the full-text of the article. Document delivery services are also available for mateials in the Library Annex.

ID card requiredElectronic Collections, such as research databases, electronic full-text journals, electronic books, and the library 's online catalog, XPLORE, may be accessed in the library and from on- and off-campus locations. See also Circulation Services.

Electronic Reserves (http://library.xu.edu/) is available with a password for both on-and off-campus locations. If you do not know your password, contact the reference desk at 513 745-4808 (hours).

Equipment & Supplies, such as computer workstations, printers, scanners, microform reader/printers, audiovisual equipment, typewriter, and Elison Die, are accessible in the library at no charge. The following services have nominal charges:

  • Laminator - $1/foot of laminating material
  • Photocopiers-10¢/page
  • Production room supplies (paper, poster board, etc.) - cost varies

Help A to Z provides online help for many library resources and services.

Internet Access is available in the library using 73 public workstations.

Print & Audiovisual Collections may be browsed in the library and accessed online through the XPLORE Library Catalog. See also Circulation Services.

Reference Assistance is available in-person and by telephone (513 745-4808) during reference desk hours. Email and online chat reference assistance is available 24/7.

RefWorks is an online bibliographic management service that permits you to create a database of references from search results in online research databases. In-text citations and and bibliographies are automatically formatted with the click of a button in a citation style of your choosing. ID card requiredTraditional Reserves is accessible from XPLORE by professor or course name. These materials must be picked up and returned to the circulation desk in the library. Some of these materials must be used only in the library. For information about loan periods, hourly overdue fines and replacement charges, see your borrowing privileges.

Xtreme Subject Guides group library resources by subject which help you to find articles in research databases, books, journals, media, websites, a librarian liaison and context-specific help in a specific academic discipline.

xu.tutor, the library's online tutorials, will help you define a research topic, optimize search strategies, identify useful sources, evaluate websites, prevent plagiarism, and find library materials.
