Description: Traditional reserves are typically used for books, videos, and other audiovisual materials.
Location: Traditional reserves are part of circulation within the Information Resources Center (IRC), located on the first floor of the library.
Staff: Circulation staff includes one full-time librarian, one full-time library assistant, and 20 part-time student employees.

For Faculty:
Access: Information about specific reserve materials may be accessed via XPLORE by course or by professor name on computer workstations in the library, on campus, or at home. Materials must be requested and checked out at the Information Resources Center in the library.
Hours: Traditional reserve services are available whenever the library is open (see hours) and up to 15 minutes before closing.
Use: A valid Xavier University ID (ALL Card) is required to check out reserve materials.
Loan periods: Depending on the professor's request, loan periods may be:
- 3 hours closed (must be used in the library)
- 3 hours open (may be used outside the library)
- 1 day
- 3 days
- 7 days
Renewal: Reserve materials may not be renewed.
Returns: To avoid overdue charges, please return all reserve materials to the Information Resources Center. Do not leave them on tables, by the photocopiers, or in carrels in the library.
